A History of Polish Currency
The zloty is the currency of Poland, and it literally translates as “golden”. Each zloty is sub-divided into 100 groszy.
The zloty won’t be the currency of Poland forever though. In 2004, Poland joined the European Union on the condition that it would one day adopt the euro. However, no date has been set for this, and Poland doesn’t currently meet the stability eligibility criteria and Poland’s constitution must be amended first. As such, it is unlikely that Poland will join the euro this decade, especially as public opinion is currently set against the move.
