CurrencyFair Engineering Meetups
In 2015, the CurrencyFair engineering team organised 3 data crunch meetings focusing on technologies and methodologies.
The meetups provided the opportunity to meet passionate engineers willing to share their knowledge, network and ideas. What’s more, there was free food and drink!
162 like-minded techies joined us, in both our previous and new offices in Ballsbridge. Here’s a list of the speakers and the topics they brought to the events:
Javier Arrieta, Senior Software Engineer @ gonitro.com
Javier talked about micro services oriented architectures, and the common challenges deriving from their implementation.
David Tracey, Senior Architect @ Logentries
David talked about the approaches to consider when indexing, viewing and searching large amounts of log data, where that data may be structured, semi-structured or unstructured.
Fionnán Alt, Lead Data Scientist @ Web Summit
Fionnán looked at some of the graph methods and technologies that power Web Summit research, marketing and recommender systems, primarily focusing on analysing large networks with Python, and using Neo4j as a high-performance recommendation engine.
Sheila Kinsella, Senior Software Engineer @ DataHug
Sheila talked about Datahug’s recent experiences scaling their email processing pipeline with Hadoop and MongoDB to reduce the onboarding time for large clients to a few hours, from the initial analysis through to rollout and some of the challenges they faced along the way.
